Timothy Burke believes that traditional methods of advertising and attracting potential clients, such as newspapers and flyers have more or less fallen by the wayside. Newspaper readership continues to decline as more and more people turn to the internet and social networking for "real-time" news and opinions.
Social networking is where younger people can be found, typically 25-45 year olds and most use the internet as a resource for purchasing everything from real estate to groceries.
Among the more popular mediums for business networking are Linkedin, facebook, twitter, yelp and of course blogs! And for free advertising that works, Kijiji and Craigslist are the top contenders.
Our job, as realtors, is to expose our listings to as wide an audience as possible and so it would seem that social networking is definitely the way of the future in our industry. So whether it's Linkedin or twitter, we just never know who might be following us and may be in the market for one of our properties. It's all about staying ahead of the curve!
